Netflix fans have heaped praise on a new series which they say makes for an ‘outstanding binge watch’.

Posting on the Facebook group Netflix Bangers, which has over three million members, one individual exclaimed the show made for ‘must-see’ viewing on the streaming platform.

Other group members agreed in unison with the sentiment, as another comment read: ‘Just binged watched it, really enjoyed it’.

A third added: ‘Just good through watching it. Good series’.

A fourth joked: ‘A good [series]. Don’t watch if going on hol to Canaries’.

Another chimed in: ‘Overall [it was a series] worth watching.’

Viewers were referring to the drama mini-series La Palma, which was produced in Norway and follows a Norwegian family on holiday in the Canary Islands.

The show’s official synopsis reads: ‘It’s Christmas and high season when a Norwegian family checks into their favourite hotel on the island of La Palma. But beneath the idyll, a danger lurks.

‘A young Norwegian scientist discovers alarming signs about the volcano located in the centre of the holiday paradise.

‘She must convince her colleagues that the worst-case scenario is about to happen. If the volcano erupts, a mountain mass the size of Manhattan might erupt into the sea and cause the largest tsunami the world has ever seen.

‘Will the family manage to escape the disaster of ash, gas and lava in a fight for their lives?’

Since becoming available on Netflix in the UK last week, the show has rocketed into the top 10 most-viewed programmes on the streaming platform in the region.

It currently occupies third place behind other new releases spy thriller Black Doves and dark comedy No Good Deed, which were also new additions to Netflix throughout December so far.

While the island of La Palma is one of Spain’s Canary Islands, with Cumbre Vieja being its the most active volcano, the show is fictional.

The volcano itself last erupted in 2021 but the series is not based on those events.
