NBA insider Shams Charania leaves Stadium after six years

Shams Charania’s free agency has taken its first turn.

The NBA insider has decided to leave Stadium after six years with the outlet, The Post has learned.

Charania, now 30, hosted the weekly show “Inside the Association” for Stadium and regularly appeared on its daily show, “The Rally.”

Most significantly, he starred on tentpole shows around the NBA draft and free agency, which did big viewership across social media platforms.

Sponsors for the content during Charania’s time at Stadium have included AT&T and State Farm.

A rep for Charania did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Charania’s deals with The Athletic and FanDuel TV are also coming up, as The Post first reported in July.

It remains up in the air as to whether he will stay at either or both as his contract negotiations continue, sources said.

Beginning in 2025, the NBA is planning to enter into new rights deals with Amazon’s Prime Video as well as a return to NBC after more than 20 years away.

Both will be looking to stack rosters of NBA talents in the coming months for studio programming and other ancillary content.

Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of TNT, has sued the NBA, arguing that it had contractual rights to match Amazon’s package.

The NBA’s contention has been that TNT does not have those rights as Amazon’s package is streaming-focused and Prime Video has about twice as many global subscribers as WBD’s Max service.
