A teacher has been recorded launching into a foul-mouthed tirade and hurling verbal abuse at his students.

The high school teacher had been leading his lesson at Nayland College in Nelson, on New Zealand’s south island.

A student then secretly filmed the moment he erupted with the teacher heard swearing at least nine times in the space of 40 seconds.

He was heard complaining about how long it had taken students to complete a task and even mocked them at one point saying it ‘isn’t even hard’.

Local parents were left outraged by the footage and demanded the school sack the teacher before the principal stepped in and refused to bend to pressure.

The clip begins with the teacher berating a female student for talking about something other than the task that had been set for the class.

‘So hurry up and sort your s*** out,’ he said.

He is seen quickly shifting his focus to the other students, shouting and swearing at them too for not performing at the level he expected.

He is heard mocking the students several times as ‘useless’.

‘You guys have been useless today, actually f***ing useless,’ he said.

‘It’s taken an hour to do f***ing nothing. Actually f***ing nothing. You’ve glued four straws to four bits of f***ing paper. Useless!’

The teacher became increasingly visibly upset claiming they would struggle with an upcoming test if they couldn’t complete the simple task.

‘When it comes time to do the assessment you guys are gonna be f***ing about…’ he said.

‘Then you guys are gonna want my help and I’m gonna go what did you do last time? And you’re gonna go ‘well I f***ed about.’ Quit f***ing about!!

‘This is simple s***, this isn’t even hard.’

An appalled mother shared the footage to Facebook following the incident.

She claimed she immediately withdrew her child from Nayland College.

‘I don’t send my child to school to be abused and apparently this is not a fire-able offence? So wrong!’ she said.

‘[Here is the] Video of said teacher abusing his class two weeks ago and he was back at school two days later.’

‘It’s appalling behavior from someone who is ment to be educating our children we don’t send them to school to be abused

The college’s principal Daniel Wilson emailed parents to explain the school was working through policies and processes in response to the teacher’s behaviour.

He told Daily Mail Australia the school took the matter ‘very seriously’ and while he is personally ‘disgusted’ with the teacher’s behaviour, it did not meet warrant dismissal.

‘Both myself and the board took legal advice throughout the process,’ he said.

‘The staff member was found guilty of misconduct, but all the advice we had was that it did not meet the level required for dismissal, although he is now on a final warning and has other conditions on his continued employment.’

He said the matter was being handled by Nayland College’s Board of Trustees.

One furious mum called the teacher’s behaviour ‘absolute bulls***’.

‘He seriously needs some treatment. Why is he a teacher?’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘He ain’t teaching those kids anything except that he’s showing them how to be abusive.

Several social media users used the word ‘disgusting’ to describe his rant.

One mum said he should have been immediately fired.
