The body of a woman has been found floating in water near a walking trail in Melbourne.

The corpse was discovered near The Esplanade in Narre Warren South, south-east Melbourne, on Tuesday morning.

Victoria Police have yet to formally identify the woman.

The woman’s death is being investigated and police believe there was no foul play. 

‘(The death) is not believed to be suspicious at this stage,’ a Victoria Police spokesman said.
