Naomi Watts was walked down the aisle by her son  Alexander 'Sasha' Schreiber as she wed Billy Crudup for the second time in Mexico City over the weekend

Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup wed for a second time on Saturday, almost a year to the day after their first courthouse wedding.

And the couple were supported by their children on the big day.

The Mulholland Drive star, 55, turned to her 16-year-old son Alexander ‘Sasha’ Schreiber to walk her down the aisle.

Sasha, who towered over his mother, looked dapper in a dark suit and tie as he gave the actress away.

Naomi’s youngest, Kai, 15, and niece Ruby were bridesmaids, and they wore strapless champagne colored gowns with ruching at the waist.

Both teens styled their hair straight and pulled back in half ponytails.

Naomi shares both her children with former partner Liev Schreiber, 56.

Traditionally, the father of the bride will walk his daughter down the aisle.

However, the actress’ dad Peter Watts, who worked as a sound engineer for Pink Floyd, tragically died of an apparent heroin overdose at the age of 31, when Naomi was seven years old.

Naomi and her family were left reeling when he was found dead in his Notting Hill flat.

His untimely death in August 1976 still deeply effects the Birdman star, according to her mother Myfanwy Watts, who previously opened up to Daily Mail Australia in a candid interview.

Speaking from her home in the hinterland hideaway of Byron Bay, Australia, Myfanwy, affectionately known as Miv, said: ‘It left scars. It was a shock. His death made Naomi incredibly determined.

‘It had a profound effect on her, as it did on the entire family.’

Watts said the family tragedy helped Naomi with her film roles, in particular the 2003 American drama 21 Grams, in which Naomi played a woman who loses her husband and both her daughters in a horrific hit-and-run.

‘With Naomi, it’s been an enormous help for her, films like 21 Grams…that emotion is buried in there, she uses it, she can work with that,’ Miss Watts explains.

‘It’s a terrible thing to happen to anyone, especially at that age when she needed her dad. We had no inkling he was using heroin at all.’

The absence of a father clearly impacted the Hollywood star and in previous interviews she has steadfastly refused to talk about him, once telling a magazine: ‘I don’t, it’s too personal, forgive me…’

She later tentatively added: ‘Growing up, there was this wondering what he would think of me or what I would think of him.’

For their second ceremony, Watts and Crudup, 55, threw a lavish ceremony and reception for family and friends in Mexico City.

Naomi looked every inch the blushing bride in a sequinned white dress with a cowl neckline and sweeping trail while carrying a bouquet of white anemone.

Naomi didn’t stay in her striking gown the whole night, as a picture shared by the actress’ friend Gina Gershon of the couple’s first dance showed the actress in another dress.

The black and white snap showed Naomi being spun around the floor by Billy while wearing what seemed to be the stunning lace dress she wore for her courthouse ceremony last year.

Billy, 55, looked handsome in a traditional black suit.

Naomi’s brother Ben shared an Instagram Story video showing proud mom Myfanwy Edwards Roberts getting emotional before the ceremony.

The bride’s best friend Nicole Kidman attended the lavish ceremony that appeared to take place at a museum.

Other guests included Isla Fisher, Justin Theroux and girlfriend Nicole Brydon Bloom who shared a snap of their outfits and the gorgeous scenery.
