A man found dead in a children’s playground has been identified as a beloved father-of-two – as a police murder probe continues. 

Anmol Bajwa, 36, was found dead in a park near Elementary Road, Mambourin in west Melbourne about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Mr Bajwa is believed to have met with an associate, whom he had helped out financially, at the park on Monday evening.

Mr Bajwa’s wife alerted authorities to the 36-year-old’s disappearance when he failed to return home.

Police arrived to the park on Tuesday morning where detectives found Mr Bajwa’s body underneath a picnic table.

A police spokeswoman confirmed their investigations remained ongoing on Tuesday.

‘The exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be determined,’ she said.

‘A man, who is believed to be known to the victim, is currently in custody assisting police with enquiries.

‘The investigation remains ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone from the area who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage.’

Mr Bajwa was an Indian migrant and father of two young children, aged six and three. 

His friends described him as a respected member of the local community.

‘Anmol was a source of love, light, and inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,’ one mate said on social media.

‘His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever remain in our hearts … may his legacy live on in the lives he touched.’

Another friend said the young father had fought to forge a life for his family since moving to Australia. 

‘Anmol was a community and family orientated person who worked hard to build a better life in Australia. 36-year-old only, a life too short taken away,’ he wrote.
