Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was fatally shot outside a home in Melbourne’s northwest.

A man has been shot dead in Melbourne’s northwest and a homicide investigation is under way.

Emergency workers were called to a home on Tenterfield Drive in Burnside Heights about 9.10pm on Friday following reports of a man suffering a gunshot wound.

Police said the man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

Homicide detectives are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding his death.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers.
