A furious musician has posted image of the damage done to his guitar case during a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Launceston

A musician has been left fuming by what he claims is damage inflicted on his guitar case by Jetstar baggage handlers.

Posting on Facebook this week, the musician, who asked not to be named, displayed photos of his smashed up prized possession.

He claimed it was wrecked on a flight from Melbourne to Launceston in Tasmania.

The damage occurred despite him penning them a special note politely asking them to take extra care of the precious luggage.

On photos shared online, great chunks of the case’s outer shell had been gouged away, including the latch to close it, and there were cracks running almost along the whole length.

The musician also displayed the note he had taped to the case which said ‘Please take care of me’ and  ‘This instrument is my income’ with two hand-drawn smiley faces.

‘I am almost impressed at the damage to my case,’ the man told Seven News.

‘I think it’s related to the big containers they put in the planes, and maybe the fact that they don’t have their own crew.’

Jetstar told Seven News it had offered to reimburse the passenger for the cost of a new case, and the tape he needed to buy to hold the damaged case together.

Despite this, the passenger said he would never fly Jetstar again.

Those commenting on the post also expressed outrage at the damage.

‘As someone who always flies with a guitar, this is scary as sh**,’ one person wrote.

‘That is some serious mishandling.’

‘It’s like its deliberate,’ another wrote with a further person picking up the same theme by saying: ‘They saw this as a challenge’.

‘Something not right here. Looks like it’s been run over by a Sherman tank. Hmmm,’ another wrote.

Jetstar has been contacted for comment.
