The older man was found with severe injuries at a property on Foote Street in Brighton about 8.30pm on July 5.

Emergency services performed CPR but he could not be revived.

The 52-year-old was arrested at the scene and spent the night in custody as homicide detectives and forensic investigators probed the crime scene.

He was charged yesterday and remanded in custody on charges of murder, breach of intervention order and aggravated burglary, to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
