A mum has been slammed for labelling a basic grey knit from Kmart Australia as ‘too revealing’ for her daughter.

Whitney, from Sydney, said she would never allow her child to wear the ‘immodest’ $18 top while sharing her disapproval in a popular Facebook group.

‘Okay, I’m literally never one to complain, but when did Kmart start selling such revealing clothing?’ she wrote.

‘I don’t want my daughter to be going around wearing this and showing her figure to the entire world. Who is with me?’

The criticism left other shoppers confused as the Short Sleeve True Knit Elbow Sleeve Top was deemed perfectly fine for all ages.

The Kmart model donned a size 12 and the top is available from sizes six up to 20. The knit is also featured in the adult section of the Kmart website, not the children’s section.

Fellow parents were quick to comment on the bizarre rant.

‘Am I missing something?’ one wrote. Another said: ‘I can’t tell if this is satire or not.’

Many encouraged Whitney to turn a blind eye to products she believes aren’t appropriate for her kids.

‘I feel like if you don’t like it, don’t buy it for her. I like the shirt. Nothing wrong with it,’ one said.

‘What’s wrong with the top? Lucky Kmart have a large selection of doona covers,’ another joked.

One wrote: ‘Kmart has always sold stuff like this. If you don’t want your daughter wearing it, don’t buy it. Your household, your rules.’

‘F*** sake! Here’s an idea! Don’t buy it!’ one more added.

‘Welcome to the wide world of fashion, and the pre-teen/teenage years. This would be called modest compared to some that they sell,’ another wrote.

Earlier this week, another mum was horrified by what she found in the $10 Kmart dollhouse bathroom set she bought for her daughter.

Simone Navybox, from Brisbane, purchased the six-piece wooden dollhouse bathroom set which includes a shower, toilet, plunger, shower mat and a sink.

But she was taken aback when she noticed a small yellow set of scales in the pack.

‘Um probably not gonna teach my little girl she needs scales in her bathroom Kmart,’ she wrote in a now-viral TikTok video.

Simone told FEMAIL she wants to ensure she’s teaching her daughter positive body image habits from a young age, even by removing the scales from a dollhouse she plays with.
