Tensions between staff and residents of a resort on a Queensland island are at boiling point, with one woman saying she’s been forced to move because she’s barred from the main areas of the resort.
Couran Cove is a resort on South Stradbroke Island, a 30-minute boat ride from the Gold Coast.
Resident Rhonda Dalgleish has now left the island, saying she can’t live in her own home after being barred from the main areas of the resort over an incident she claims never happened.
“It’s a bit difficult when I have to go down to their resort shop to buy the bags of ice for my esky because they’ve turned off our power,” she said.
“I feel like I am under house arrest.”

In a statement, the resort manager said the move was made due to “a number of complaints from other people at the venue and also from people in nearby houses who could hear the screaming, yelling and abusive language”.
Dalgleish strongly denies the accusation.
“I’m either crying, I’m angry, I am ashamed, I am hurt and embarrassed,” she said.
“To my children, my adult children who are saying ‘mum just get out of there just get out, it’s not worth going through all this’ but it is worth it, it’s my home.”
