Multiple people have been injured in a school shooting in Oakland California, with reports of at least three patients being rushed to hospital.
Oakland Police Department confirmed they are investigating the shooting, which occurred in the 8200 block of Fontaine Street around 12:45 pm.
Several schools have facilities on the block.
“Parents are asked to meet their children at the church on Mountain and Fontaine for reunification,” it said in a statement.
A father speaking to his 13-year-old daughter on the phone told KTVU he heard gunshots in the background.
She was huddling under a desk when she made the call.
“I didn’t have too much information but I just rushed over,” the father said.
“I was about to rush the police. I was first in line, and they wouldn’t let me through I asked them ‘what if it was your daughter?'”
Three patients were taken to Highland Hospital, a hospital spokesperson told KTVU.
No further updates on the facility involved, or number of injured has been made.
