A grandmother who died in a car crash north of Brisbane has been remembered as a much-loved wife of 50 years who cherished her family more than anything in the world.
Floral tributes have been laid at the scene of the crash in Murrumba Downs after Rosemary Franzidis, 69, died when an allegedly stolen Audi collided with her car about 9.30am yesterday.
Franzidis was “a woman of strong faith, she had many church friends who will remember her fondly”, her family said in a statement.
”Everybody who met Rose felt her love, kindness, and generosity,” the family said.
“She will be extremely missed by friends and family in South Africa, the UK, Australia and the USA.”
Police allege a 16-year-old boy had stolen the Audi sedan at gunpoint 15 minutes before the crash.
The stolen Audi collided with Franzidis’ car at the intersection of McClintock Drive.
Franzidis was trapped inside by the collision, which also injured two police officers in a nearby unmarked car.
Despite the efforts of paramedics and police, Franzidis died at the scene.
The teenage boy was taken to hospital and was charged with manslaughter, armed robbery, and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm last night.
Police released an image of another allegedly stolen car seen in the area before the Audi was allegedly stolen.
They believe its occupants, captured on CCTV in an orange Holden, may be linked to the 16-year-old.
Police are still searching for other people who may be involved.
9News understands the 16-year-old alleged driver had 30 prior offences and had breached bail 15 times.
He appeared in a magistrates court this morning where the case was adjourned until December 17.
