Police remain at the scene in Mount Pritchard, where a man's body was found lying in the middle of the street

A man’s body has been found lying in the middle of a suburban street in Sydney’s south-west.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Pritchard Street and Hemphill Avenue in Mount Pritchard around 3am on Wednesday where a man was found suffering from significant injuries.

The man pronounced dead at the scene, despite the desperate efforts of paramedics to save him.

Police and forensic officers remain at the site, which has been declared as a crime scene.

Detectives were spotted going door-to-door interviewing residents who may have seen or heard anything. 

Police understand the man may have been hit by a car. 

Police urge witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
