A woman says she was tormented by passing motorists who hurled abuse at her rather than stopping to help after she collided with a truck on a Queensland highway.

Footage captured the dramatic moment the truck slammed into the side of her car, sending her spinning out of control on the Pacific Highway near Beenleigh.

She was paralysed by fear as her car was jolted into the path of oncoming traffic.

“I’m just looking at the wheels going ‘please don’t go over me, please don’t go over me, please don’t go over me’,” the woman said.

She requested her identity be protected to speak out about abuse from passersby who were stuck in backed-up traffic crawling past the wreck.

“It’s been probably the hardest thing to deal with, people don’t care,” she said.

“That could be your mother, it could be your best friend, it could be your daughter … just have some compassion.”

The woman said the truck driver pulled over to speak with her, telling her “you didn’t see my blinkers”.

“He just didn’t seem bothered,” she said.

Although physically uninjured, the woman said she was traumatised and seeking help for the emotional impacts.
