A woman has been shot dead at a unit in Morayfield in Brisbane’s north in the early hours of Sunday morning, with a man arrested by detectives.

Police swooped on the home at The Bungalows apartment block on Grant Road just after 12pm on Saturday when neighbours reported the sound of gunfire.

Paramedics tried to save the woman, 29, but she died at the scene and the man was held by police.

Neighbours reported the police searched the bins of the nearby Morayfield West child day care centre across the road during their investigations at the scene.

Police told Daily Mail Australia an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. 

‘Emergency services were called to the Grant Road property just after midnight, following reports a woman had been shot,’ Queensland police said.

‘Emergency services attempted to assist the woman, but she died at the scene.

‘Investigations are ongoing. There is no further information available at this time.’

It’s understood a man was interviewed by police but no chargers were laid.
