MLB predictions: When will White Sox win next game?

Vegas oddsmakers are having some fun with one of the saddest teams in MLB history.

With the worst record in baseball at 27-84 ahead of a weekend series against the Twins, the White Sox are riding a franchise-record 17-game losing streak.

FanDuel Sportsbook has jumped on the historic skid, offering odds on when Chicago’s South Side team will claim their next victory.

The White Sox are +210 to snap the streak on Friday in Minnesota, but perhaps their best shot at ending this misery comes early next week when they head to Oakland to take on the A’s, who have the fourth-worst record in baseball.

After that, they will head back to the Windy City to host their crosstown rival Cubs for two games before hosting the Yankees for three games.

If they can’t win a game by Game 1 against the Cubs, they’ll have matched the 1961 Phillies record 23-game losing streak.

FanDuel has the White Sox at +8000 to go winless through Aug. 14, which, by then, they’d run up the losing streak to 28 games.

There are few parallels to what has happened on the South Side this season.

The White Sox are currently 57 games below .500.

They are on pace to go 39-123, which would surpass the Mets’ inaugural season in 1962 when they went 40-120, the worst record in MLB’s modern era (since 1900).

It’s almost guaranteed to be the White Sox’s worst season in franchise history, surpassing the 1970 that lost 106 games.

With another 14-game losing streak earlier this season, they’re also just the fourth team since 1901 to have two such losing streaks, joining the 1911 Boston Rustlers, 1935 Boston Rustlers and 2021 Baltimore Orioles.
