MLB Opening Day 2025: How To Watch MLB.TV For Free

It’s a great day to be a sports fan. Not only does the Sweet 16 kick off at 7:09 p.m. ET when No. 6 BYU and No. 2 Alabama square off on CBS, but it’s also the start of the 2025 baseball season!

That’s right, Opening Day has finally arrived! Twenty-eight teams will be in action, with ESPN airing two games. The first nationally televised game will feature the New York Yankees hosting the Milwaukee Brewers at 3:00 p.m. ET (Freddy Peralta vs Carlos Rodon), and the Los Angeles Dodgers/Detroit Tigers matchup (Tarik Skubal vs Blake Snell) will serve as the nightcap (7:00 p.m. ET).

If you’re looking to watch out-of-market MLB action, you’re going to need a subscription to MLB.TV. There are a variety of ways to order the streaming service (and several free trial offers).

Where To Watch 2025 Opening Day:

There are only two nationally televised Opening Day matchups:

  • Milwaukee Brewers @ New York Yankees: 3:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+
  • Detroit Tigers @ Los Angeles Dodgers: 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+

Games will also be available to watch on your local RSN (regional sports network), but if you want to watch out-of-market games, you need a subscription to MLB.TV.

How To Watch Opening Day 2025 On MLB.TV:

You can watch every out-of-market game live or on-demand via MLB.TV.
