A holidaymaker has been flown by helicopter to hospital after falling slightly more than 20metres down a cliff at a popular tourist destination in Queensland.

The man, aged in his 40s, fell down the cliff face on Saturday at Paradise Caves, in the Noosa National Park, while visiting the tourist attraction with his family.

The emergency services were called and a rescue helicopter rushed to the scene on the Sunshine Coast.

Footage showed paramedics surrounding the man, who had managed to get to a safer position after he fortunately landed in water that has collected at the bottom of the cliff.

He was then winched out by the helicopter and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The man had injuries to his arm and chest, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said.

‘The incident was witnessed by the patient’s wife, there was a period of loss of consciousness initially but he quickly regained consciousness,’ QAS senior operations supervisor James Mayfield told Channel Nine.

‘He was able to move himself to a spot and set himself up until help arrived.’
