Minecraft movie screening pandemonium caught on video sparks angry anti-kid backlash: ‘Effective condom ad’

Apparently, Minecraft isn’t just about building — it’s also about destroying movie theaters.

The latest viral documentation of the utter chaos young fans are kicking up at screenings of the new blockbuster film based on the video game has online observers rethinking plans to have kids.

An astonishing video taken by a parent at a showing of “A Minecraft Movie” shows a packed theater full of hyperactive Gen Alphas at the top of their lungs, jumping around like they’re at a rave and throwing popcorn like it’s confetti — a scene that’s sparking controversy online.

The incredible clip, uploaded to Reddit, shows a mother filming her three sons sprinting to their seats at a local theater while letting out ear-piercing screams of “CHICKEN JOCKEY!”

The revealing look at the mayhem inside one theater — this one in suburban Toronto — is the latest evidence of what has become an international headache for patrons and management alike, since the flick debuted on Apr. 4.

As one Reddit commenter put it, “This is a pretty effective condom ad.” Another added, “Birth control: The movie.”

And it’s not just North American audiences dealing with the madness.

In the UK, the BBC reports that Cineworld theaters are begging moviegoers to “respect cinema etiquette” before launching their new “Chicken Jockey 4DX” screenings.

That’s right—a whole special screening designed for the kids who can’t sit still for more than a few seconds.

Meanwhile, one New Jersey theater has decided enough is enough.

Since the release of “A Minecraft Movie” (above) on April 4, cinemas nationwide have been dealing with unruly teenagers and preteens tossing popcorn. AP

After some unruly boys “engaged in completely unacceptable behavior, including vandalism,” the theater has now mandated that all minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

And it’s not just a matter of noise—throwing popcorn and wrecking the place will get you banned.

Commenters online appear to be cheering the move.

It’s not just about being loud—if you start throwing popcorn or causing damage, you’ll be kicked out before you can even say “crafting table.” AP

As one Reddit user put it: “This isn’t funny. Are none of those children raised properly? That’d be the last time I take them out to the movies.”

Another was focused on the waste of pricey movie popcorn: “I’m genuinely happy these kids are happy, but the way they’re leaving such a mess is so confusing. They’re getting expensive theater snacks… just to waste it all? For why?”

One parent in the discussion even said, “I’d be demanding a refund & everything. People who interrupt movies for absolutely dumb stuff like this, piss me off to no end.”

Clearly, Minecraft is a cultural phenomenon, and a big-screen movie about it was always going to be a big deal.

But, as one Reddit user put it: “Maybe teach them to be a bit more considerate of others or watch it at home instead.”
