Most of Australia was plunged into sub-zero temperatures yesterday, with more to come through the week.

The cold snap is due to a “near-stationary” high-pressure ridge affecting eastern and south-eastern Australia, Weatherzone said.

It’s resulted in some places experiencing their lowest temperatures in two to four years.
