Mike Pence allies launching super PAC to back his possible 2024 White House bid

Supporters of former Vice President Mike Pence will launch a super PAC on Tuesday to back his possible 2024 presidential campaign, according to reports.

The launch of the “Committed to America” PAC is the latest sign that Pence is expected to soon join the 2024 presidential fray.

“The country’s at a real crossroads and the Republican Party needs a strong conservative candidate who can win,” said Scott Reed, a longtime Republican consultant who will co-chair the group, according to the Associated Press.

“Pence has the experience, the unparalleled character, communication skills and the conservative credentials to win both the nomination and a general election.”

Former Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), who served with Pence in the House, is the other co-chair of the PAC.

Bobby Saparow, who managed Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s successful 2022 re-election campaign, will serve as the group’s executive director, and former GOP Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s communications director Mike Ricci will oversee communications, according to the Associated Press.

The PAC hopes to remind the public of Pence’s experience, character and his conservative bona fides.

“People know Mike Pence, they just don’t know him well,” Reed said. “This campaign is going to reintroduce Mike Pence to the country as his own man, not as vice president, but as a true economic, social and national security conservative — a Reagan conservative.”

Last month, Pence indicated that he will decide no later than June whether to run for the White House in 2024.

The former vice president, congressman and Indiana governor faces a steep uphill climb for the GOP nomination.

A Quinnipiac University poll released in May found 36% of Republicans view him unfavorably – more than view Trump or DeSantis unfavorably.

Pence is tied for third place, with 4%, in most polls with Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador to the US under Trump who announced her bid for the White House in February.

Former President Donald Trump has a commanding lead in most 2024 GOP polls with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – who is expected to launch his campaign sometime this summer – running in second place.

Other Republican candidates that have declared their 2024 candidacy include entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and conservative radio talk show host Larry Elder.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC.) has launched a 2024 exploratory committee and like Pence is still mulling jumping in the race.
