A baby girl has died in hospital after the infant was found unresponsive inside a suburban home. 

The three-week-old baby was found at a house on Jones Street at Mighell, near Innisfail, abound 90km south of Cairns, around 9.30am on Saturday. 

The baby was rushed to hospital after she was discovered but officers from Queensland Police said she later died.  

‘An investigation has commenced, and detectives will work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,’ she said.
