A nurse and midwife at South Australia’s Lyell McEwin Hospital will work her last shift tomorrow after almost six decades on the job.

Linda Campbell has brought thousands of babies into the world, nurturing not only little bundles of joy, but the budding careers of her colleagues also.

Tomorrow, she will assist with one last birth before retiring after 57 years as a nurse – 53 as a midwife.

She’ll spend her first day of retirement celebrating her 74th birthday, before settling into two other very important roles; mother and grandmother.
