On the first weekend of the college football season, we already have a candidate for catch of the year.
In Michigan State’s matchup with Central Michigan at Spartan Stadium on Saturday night, sophomore receiver Tyrell Henry reeled in a touchdown with one hand with 13:26 left in the fourth quarter that one has to see to believe.
The play was set up after junior quarterback Noah Kim, from the Spartans’ own 18-yard line, fired a pass to an open redshirt junior receiver Christian Fitzpatrick that gained 72 yards.
After a run that netted no gain, the Spartans set up on second and goal from the 10-yard line, and Kim threw up a back shoulder fade toward the corner of the end zone.
With Central Michigan defensive back De’Javion Stepney draped all over him, Henry turned around as the ball descended and snagged the ball with his right hand as he was dragged down.

He held on for what was quite the impressive catch — and his first collegiate touchdown.

It was Henry’s second catch of the game after he snagged a 15-yard reception earlier in the season opener.
Last year, Henry specialized in kick returns, leading Michigan State with 10 returns for 183 yards.
He likely won’t soon forget his first-ever NCAA touchdown.
