Mets agree to one-year deal with Jorge Lopez in another move to bolster bullpen

The Mets’ offseason of rounding out their bullpen continues.

The team added Jorge Lopez on a one-year, $2 million deal, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed Thursday night.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan was the first to report the news of the contract.

The 30-year-old struggled with three teams (Twins, Marlins, Orioles) last season, putting up a 5.13 ERA with 41 strikeouts over 47 1/3 innings.

It was a down year for Lopez after he had a breakout 2022 in which he was named an American League All-Star as a member of the Orioles, holding a 1.68 ERA in the first half of the year.

He was later flipped to the Twins at the trade deadline in a package that netted Baltimore four players, including 2023 All-Star Yennier Cano.

But after the issues mounted this year, Minnesota sent him to Miami before the trade deadline before he was then waived and picked up by the Orioles again during their stretch run.

For his career, he has a 5.51 ERA with over 480 innings.

The move comes one day after the team agreed to a deal with right-hander Michael Tonkin.

The previously added free agents Kyle Crick and Andre Scrubb to minor league deals.
