It’s believed the man was travelling south along Chapel Street in South Yarra when he crashed into the back of a Critical Incident Response Team car at a red light.
The crash took place at about 1.15am.
The rider, a 29-year-old man of unknown address, was assisted by two police officers and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The police were not injured.
An investigation is ongoing.
