The 43-year-old driver had a six-year-old and an eight-year-old child in the car when police pulled him over on the Maroondah Highway in Croydon, in Melbourne’s east, about 8pm yesterday.
A breath test he did at the roadside showed he had been drinking, according to police, leading to him being taken to a police station.
He then allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of .312 on a second breath test.
The Croydon man’s licence was suspended.
Police have said he is expected to be charged with drink driving and reckless driving offences.
