An Australian tourist in Bali was left bloodied and bruised when he was ferociously bashed on a night out for dancing with the wrong woman.
Perth man Matthew Stevenson said about six people attacked and robbed him, beating him so badly he had to get 10 stitches to his head.
Mr Stevenson, 27, was in the Sky Garden nightclub in Kuta on Friday night when he was assaulted, leaving him with a broken cheek and split scalp.
‘After seeing the footage, I realised how close I could have come [to dying],’ the man told 9News.
He said he was dancing with a woman whose brother was unhappy about that. ‘This guy out of nowhere just pushes me,’ he said.

Thirty minutes later, Mr Stevenson and his friends decided to leave the club, but things then got worse.
‘The guy put me in a headlock and he choked me out and dropped me to fall and I hit my head and there was a pool of blood next to me,’ he said.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for multiple lacerations and had his facial injuries sowed back together.
Though he is now out of hospital, he is not out of the woods yet and has been having constant headaches over the weekend.
‘I’m on painkillers from the hospital and antibiotics and they help, but last night I couldn’t sleep,’ he said.
‘I’m still bleeding a bit out of my head and I think I might have a broken cheek or eye socket, because there’s some blood in the corner of both of my eyes.’

The scaffolder is supposed to be flying back to Perth on Monday for his brother’s wedding but that may not happen because he was also robbed in the attack.
The thugs stole his passport, his phone and the money he had on him.
One of the men who attacked him is reportedly in custody in Bali and he is hopeful the others will face justice too.
‘People die from that sort of attack. That’s cowardly,’ Mr Stevenson said.
