Firefighters have spent the early hours of this morning battling a massive blaze at a warehouse in Sydney’s inner west.
Emergency crews were called to Elizabeth Street in Croydon at about 5am after a fire broke out at a small factory behind a row of shops.
There are 15 firetrucks, about 60 firefighters and two aerial appliances at the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to surrounding buildings with residents in nearby homes forced to evacuate.
NSW Fire and Rescue confirmed there were no injuries and everyone was accounted for.
Exclusion zones have been set up due to the risk of the wall collapsing.
Police said road closures were in place at Elizabeth Street between Frederick and Edwin Street North.
“No one is believed to be in the building, and adjacent buildings, including a petrol station, have been evacuated as a precaution,” it said.
Fire crews and police remain on scene.
