Mark Consuelos Heats Up This Morning’s ‘Live’ By Explaining Why Kelly Ripa Is “Afraid To Stretch Out In Bed”: “That’s Second Base”

For those unsure what “second base” entails in the bedroom, Mark Consuelos has offered up his own definition. On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, he hopped right into an unexpected subject: when female frogs fake their own deaths “to avoid unwanted male attraction.”

His wife and co-host Kelly Ripa chimed in, exclaiming, “They learned that from us!”

Consuelos then quipped that keeps “a little mirror” next to bedside to prevent any funny business.

“When she’s faking her own death, I put it over her face to see if she’s breathing,” he continued. “If it fogs up, it’s gonna be a nice Friday night.”

Ripa fired right back at her husband, saying, “That’s why I’ve learned to hold my breath for seven to 18 minutes!”

“He thinks I’m dead constantly!” she added.

Consuelos then explained the “revelations about how amphibians are taking ‘ghosting’ to the next level.” After he was stumped on some scientific jargon in the article he was reading, Ripa jumped in, sharing that “the frog will stretch out her arms and legs, and act as if she were dead.”

“I gotta try that one,” Ripa joked, noting that her “death pose is too animated.”

She and Consuelos then attempted to mimic her sleeping pose, and came to the conclusion that she has to “get more amplified” in order to master the female frog’s death pose.

“I’m always afraid to stretch out though, because stretching out to you is sometimes like, that act in and of itself —” Ripa began.

Consuelos quickly interjected, “That’s second base!”

The audience proceeded to erupt into laughter as Consuelos maintained a sly smile and chuckled. Ripa finally broke it up by saying, “So gross,” and swiftly moving onto their next topic.

Who knew female frogs would lead to such an explicit exchange?
