Witnesses called police after they found the body off a walking path along a cliff on Lumsdaine Drive near Freshwater on the northern beaches about 10.20am.
After initial investigations officers believe he was in his 60s.

“He is yet to be formally identified,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Investigations are continuing.
