A manhunt is underway for a driver after a car crashed into a fence and drove onto railway tracks in Sydney’s west.

Police attempted to stop a white four-wheel drive displaying stolen plates at 10.55pm yesterday on Emert Street in Wentworthville.

The driver failed to stop for police, sparking a pursuit before the car crashed through a fence and onto the rail corridor near Wentworth Avenue.

Two men were seen running from the stranded car after it got stuck on the tracks.

Alternative train services are being organised with delays expected on the line this morning.

No arrests have been made.
