The man, 25, was arrested after he crashed an allegedly stolen Ford Mondeo into a power pole in Broadbeach on June 16.

He allegedly tried to flee the scene when a group of tradies and onlookers held him down until police arrived.

Investigators believe the car was stolen from Bilambil Heights, New South Wales on June 13.

The 25-year-old from Kingscliff was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without care and attention, driving on a disqualified licence, entering a property and receiving tainted property, as well as the unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was refused bail and appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today.
