A man who rushed to help someone hit by a car ended up being stabbed by another man wielding a pair of scissors.

Richard happened to be outside his home in North Perth checking on his cats when he saw a man flung from a white Corolla before it sped away.

He rushed to help the man and see how badly he was hurt.

“I approached the guy on the road who was injured and tried to ascertain what his injuries were and then I saw people on the street,” Richard told 9News.

Another man then allegedly came at Richard with a pair of scissors and he was repeatedly stabbed in the back and arms.

“He just came lunging at me with scissors, I managed to dodge him then he went for my brother and chased him around the car, so I got between them, he knocked me over on the road, then just started indiscriminately lunging and stabbing me,” Richard said.

“He had a glazed look in his eye … you couldn’t reason with him. It’s like he had no soul.”

Richard rushed to the aid of the other man, but was allegedly slashed with a pair of scissors.

Paramedics took both Richard and the 49-year-old man flung from the car to hospital.

The 24-year-old man who allegedly had the scissors was a friend of the other injured man, police said, and he was arrested nearby with help from the canine unit.

He was charged with being armed to cause fear and unlawful wounding.

Police are still searching for the person driving the white sedan.
