Emergency services were called to a closed section at Cedar Creek just after 2pm yesterday following reports a man fell and struck his head.
Upon arrival, police located the man unconscious with serious head injuries.
Officers administered first aid with assistance from bystanders before paramedics arrived.
The man was winched to safety by a Rescue 500 helicopter and flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
No one else suffered any injuries.
The incident comes as police in the Mount Tamborine area continue to respond to requests for assistance following severe storms that hit the region over the past two weeks.
Fallen trees, powerlines and other safety hazards are continuing to be observed, police said.
Residents are being reminded to avoid entering floodwaters and to stay away from drains, culverts and water that is more than knee-deep.
Police are also urging people to avoid areas that are closed due to storm damage.
