A man in his 20s was shot while he was sitting inside a parked car on Hickeys Lane in Penrith, just before 10pm yesterday.

Paramedics treated the man’s gunshot wound, and he was taken to hospital for further treatment.

His injuries are non-life-threatening.

At 10.15pm, emergency services were called to a car fire on Kindlebark Close, in the nearby suburb of Claremont Meadows.

The fire was extinguished and police have established two crime scenes.

Detectives are working to determine if both incidents are linked.
