A man was shot in the chest and shoulder in front of his family during a violent home invasion this morning at Bellmere, north of Brisbane

Four intruders wearing ski masks broke into Jim Broadley’s home just after 1 am.

CCTV showed the men bursting through the front door.

“There were three guys standing next to each other and the one in the middle was pointing a gun at my stepdad,” Broadley’s stepdaughter Madyson told 9News.

“My stepdad was just screaming at them to get out of our house.

“They fired three times, but he was shot twice.

“My mum was screaming for us to help her because my stepdad got shot.”

The offenders ran out the front door and escaped in a small black car that was seen outside the house before the attack.

”[They] jumped in the car and did a U-turn here and took off,” another witness told 9News.

Police arrived minutes later while Madyson and her mother helped Broadley, who had dropped to the ground.

“Me and my mum were pressing onto his wounds to stop the bleeding, he was just saying he couldn’t breathe,” Madyson said.

An officer ran to get pillows and blankets for Broadley as he lay in the front yard.

He was taken to Caboolture Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
