A man has been shot in the arm in Sydney’s west in what police suspect was a targeted attack overnight.

Police are hunting the gunman responsible for the shooting of the 29-year-old at Figtree Drive in Sydney Olympic Park.

Emergency services were called there at about 3am today and treated him for an arm wound before taking him to hospital.

A short time later, police were called to Dalley Street at the nearby suburb of Lidcombe where a car was found on fire.

Officers are investigating whether the two incidents were linked.

A crime scene has been set up which will be examined by specialist forensic police.
