A man has been shot by police during a welfare check at a home in Melbourne‘s south-east.
Police were called to the property in Doveton after neighbours reported an argument between a man and a woman before 9am today.
Before officers arrived, it is believed the two left the property separately and police were no longer required.
Police were then called to the same home at 10.30am where officers attempted to speak with the man at the front of the house.
Police have alleged the man aggressively ran at an officer with a metal pole when a shot was fired by police.
The 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor upper-body injuries and remains under police guard.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has been launched with oversight by the Professional Standards Command.
