Police were called to an address in Gardenia Grove at Burleigh Heads about 7.30pm yesterday.
An armed man, aged in his 30s, was allegedly making threats at the home before threatening officers, police said.
Officers opened fire and the man was immediately given medical attention.
The man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police remain at the scene.
