A 48-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with a large knife still lodged in his hand after a violent attack at his home south of Adelaide.

The man was seen with his face and hand covered in blood as paramedics frantically treated him outside his home on Hamilton Road in Aldinga Beach this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the house to reports of an attack about 12.40pm to find the man with a knife stuck in his hand.

He was rushed to Flinders Medical Centre, with authorities saying his injuries were not life-threatening.

Witness Jayson Haywood said, “Considering it looks like a big knife, he’s pretty lucky”.

“From what I’ve seen he seems like a good dude and I’ve never heard or seen anything bad apart from now,” Haywood told 9News.

Police swarmed the area searching for the attacker but no arrests were made.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the attack or anyone with information to come forward.
