Flight QF46 was met by Australian Federal Police upon arrival at Melbourne Airport this morning following reports of a disturbance on board.
A male passenger allegedly became aggressive and started screaming at the cabin in what witnesses described as “some sort of episode”.
He then allegedly tried to attack an air hostess before being restrained by fellow passengers and crew.
The man spent several hours pinned to the floor of the cabin until the plane landed safely in Melbourne.
“He attacked two or three of the other passengers and other passengers overpowered him,” a passenger on board the flight told 9News.
“Everybody was resting and all of a sudden this guy just jumped up and he started screaming and everybody was panicking.”

“No charges have been laid at this stage.”
A Qantas spokesperson said the airline worked with police to manage the incident.
“The safety of our customers and our crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive of threatening behaviour,” they said.
