A man has been killed in a house fire on the NSW south coast this morning.

Fire and rescue crews were called to Beach Road in Denhams Beach, Batemans Bay, at 5.20am where they found the property engulfed in flames.

Crews extinguished the blaze, however, the home was destroyed.

Following the fire, crews searched the home and found the remains of a dead man.

He is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be aged in is 50s.

A crime scene has been established and detectives have commenced inquiries into the cause of the blaze.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
