An investigation is under way after a fatal crash in northern New South Wales.

A silver Ford Ranger ute rolled over at the intersection of Elcombe Road and Royal Oak Road in Bangheet, 90km from Moree, at 3.50pm yesterday.

Police officers had to pull a 56-year-old male passenger from the car and started CPR.

However, the man could not be revived.

The 47-year-old female driver was treated by paramedics and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

A nine-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman also in the crash were not injured.

Police are looking to speak with a driver and passenger/s of a green early model-dual-cab with a flat tray.

It was last seen travelling north on Elcombe Road towards the township of Gravesend.

Anyone with any dashcam footage or information about the crash are urged to contact police.
