Steven Dean attacked Emmerich Lasakar in April 2023 while in a drug-induced psychosis

He then drove away and crashed his car, leaving Lasakar to die in front of their two children.

35-year-old Emmerick Lasakar was rushed to Perth Royal Hospital where she died last night after she was found with serious injuries at a home on Knutsford Avenue in Kewdale.

Dean, 37, pleaded guilty in Perth Magistrates Court in July 2023.

The judge today described the attack as “one of the most serious examples of domestic violence”.

Lasakar’s sister Diana shared her family’s on-going pain despite the sentencing.

“No matter how many years he’s in there, it doesn’t bring our sister back,” she said.

Dean will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
