A man has been found dead inside a shipping container after it burst into flames alongside a caravan in northern Queensland.

A huge blaze broke out at an industrial property on Woolcox Street Service Road in Mount Louisa, Townsville, at about 10pm on Thursday with police and fire crews rushing to the scene.

The fire was put out and the lifeless body of a man believed to be aged in his 40s was found inside the container.

Police have set up a crime scene as investigations into the man’s death continue.

Investigators are looking into whether the man was living at the site at the time of the fire.
