The man was bitten around 12.30 this afternoon, at the popular ‘Bombie’ surfing spot near Exmouth, in the Gascoyne region.
It is understood the man took himself to the local hospital, where he remains tonight in stable condition.
People in the area are advised to take extra caution.
Fisheries officers are working with local authorities to investigate the incident.
