Police in Sydney are appealing for public information today following a suspected hit-and-run in the city’s north west overnight.

A man aged 78 has been left hospitalised in critical condition after he was found unconscious on a road in Epping at about 7.45pm yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Boronia Avenue after a resident heard a loud noise and came out to find the man on the roadway.

Paramedics and police gave him first aid until he was flown by the Toll helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital.

He suffered suffering severe head and internal injuries and is in a critical condition today.

Police crash investigators have launched inquiries and have learnt a light blue sedan was driving along Boronia Avenue about the time the man was believed to have been struck.

Officers hope the driver of the vehicle may be able to provide information about the incident.

Police have appealed for the driver of the car – or anyone who saw the vehicle or has dashcam vision which may be relevant – to contact police or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
