A man who allegedly held up a tugboat with a gun before crashing into a police vessel has faced court.

The 48-year-old is accused of being behind the wheel of a dinghy off Kwinana Beach yesterday.

He allegedly threatened the tugboat crew with a firearm, crashed into a police boat, causing his dinghy to become airborne, and then took off.
